Shish tawook... a very tasty recipe! Especially delicious when served as sandwiches... tawook is one of the easiest ways to prepare boneless chicken.
Ingredients
- Boneless chicken breast
- Marinade:
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon seven-spice (baharat)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Garlic-starch sauce:
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- 2 large garlic cloves
- 1/2 cup oil
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- juice of half a lemon
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method
- Mix all the marinade ingredients and marinate the large chicken cubes in it.
- Leave them in the fridge for at least 3 hours.Timers: 180 min
- After that time, fry the tawook or grill it according to your preference.
- To prepare the garlic sauce: dissolve the cornstarch in cold water and put it in a pot over the heat, stirring until it thickens.
- Let it cool completely, then place it in a blender with the previously crushed garlic, oil, vinegar, lemon juice and salt and blend well until you get a creamy garlic sauce.
- Serve the tawook as sandwiches in Arabic or regular bread with the garlic sauce, fried potatoes and pickled cucumbers.
