Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup milk
  • القشطة:
  • 5 cups water
  • 2 cups milk powder
  • 4 tablespoons semolina
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon rose water and orange blossom water
  • Recipe for shaibiat from a friend in the Sho Tabikhin El Yom group:
  • Zainab Jaber
  • Note: You will find accompanying photos for the recipe showing how to cut the dough into triangles.

Method

  1. Knead the ingredients well... and shape the dough into balls.
  2. Cover each dough ball with cornstarch.
  3. Roll out a dough ball well into a circle, then sprinkle it with cornstarch, then place a second rolled-out circle on top, prepared the same way, and sprinkle it with cornstarch as well.
  4. After finishing all the dough balls that we have rolled and stacked, roll them out with a rolling pin to get a large round sheet....
  5. Cut the sheet lengthwise using a pizza cutter. Then fold the bottom edge of the dough into a triangle shape and cut it, then fill it (the way of folding the dough into a triangle is clear in the pictures)
  6. Mix the ingredients well and boil them over low heat with constant stirring.
  7. When the cream thickens, add the orange blossom water and rose water and remove it from the heat.
  8. Fill the shaibiat with the cream, fry them, then pour the cold syrup over them.
