Safouf is one of the easiest Arabic sweets to make! Whenever I think of dessert, I first think of making safouf. Some people like to decorate it with sesame seeds or nuts, and it can also be left plain.

Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tablespoon turmeric (yellow spice)
- 1 tablespoon ground anise
- 1 cup melted ghee
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 cup fine semolina or farina
- 1 tablespoon tahini for greasing the pan
Method
- Mix the dry ingredients together, then add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Grease the bottom and sides of a medium baking pan with tahini, then pour the safouf mixture into it.
- Preheat the oven, then bake the safouf at 160°C for 40 minutes.Timers: 40 min
- When done, remove it from the oven and cover it with a plastic bag until it cools, then cut and serve.
