Pea rice with meatballs... an easy, practical recipe

freshly ground beef

black pepper

ground cinnamon

seven-spice (baharat)

cumin

salt

onion slices

tomato sauce

peas

butter

rice

salt

ground cardamom

nuts for garnish

Mix the ground beef with the spices, form into balls, then fry them in a little olive oil.
Add the onion slices to the pan and sauté until the onion softens.
Add the tomato sauce and a little water and let the meatballs simmer gently.
Meanwhile, prepare the rice: sauté the peas in a little butter, then add the rice with salt, black pepper and ground cardamom and stir.
Add water according to the rice’s needs, add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
When the water level is nearly even with the rice, reduce the heat and let the rice simmer on low until cooked.
Serve the pea rice with the meatballs on the side and garnish with fried nuts as desired.
