Custard — a very easy, delicious summer dessert that's great for kids
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons ready-made custard powder (vanilla or chocolate, as desired)
- 2 cups (i.e. 1/2 liter) liquid milk
- or
- 2 cups (1/2 liter) water + 8 tablespoons powdered milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar, or more to taste
Method
- Mix all the ingredients together cold until dissolved.
- Pour into a pot and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the custard thickens.
- Pour the custard—vanilla or chocolate—into serving glasses or a Pyrex dish. Garnish with plain biscuits, or place biscuits in the bottom of the glasses/dish. You can also layer a vanilla layer and a chocolate layer on top of each other.
- Let the custard cool at room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator to chill thoroughly before serving.
