Quick homemade safouf... a simple home recipe with a delicious result.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup fine semolina
- 1 level teaspoon vanilla
- 1 level teaspoon baking powder
- 1 level teaspoon turmeric (for yellow color)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup oil
- 3/4 cup milk
- Tahini for greasing the pan
- Oil or butter for browning the top
Method
- Sift the all-purpose flour and fine semolina together with the vanilla, baking powder, and turmeric.
- Add the sugar and mix, then add the liquids and beat the mixture with an electric mixer for about 3 minutes.Timers: 3 min
- Let the safouf batter rest for about 30 minutes.Timers: 30 min
- Grease the pan with tahini and pour the batter into it. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (about 390°F) for around 20 minutes, or adjust according to your oven.Timers: 20 min
- Brush the top with oil or butter, then brown the top for about 10 minutes, watching closely.Timers: 10 min
- Allow the safouf to cool completely before serving.
