Original muhallabia — a very delicious homemade recipe
Ingredients
- 1 liter milk
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp orange blossom water (or rose water)
- A pinch of ground mastic, pounded with a pinch of sugar
- For garnish: any nuts you prefer

Method
- In a bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in half a cup of cold milk.
- Put the remaining milk in a pot over the heat with the sugar and vanilla, and continue stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- When the milk heats up, add the cup of milk with the cornstarch and continue stirring without stopping until the mixture thickens.
- Then add the orange blossom water and mastic, reduce the heat while stirring for a few more minutes, then turn off the heat.
- Pour the muhallabia into cups or glasses and leave them to cool at room temperature, then place them in the refrigerator until well chilled.
- At serving, garnish the muhallabia with nuts and serve.
