Orange peel is used to decorate desserts — here is how to prepare it at home.
Ingredients
- 1 cup thinly sliced orange peel
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Juice of 1 lemon (or 1 tbsp)
- A drop of red food coloring

Method
- Place the lemon peel in a pot with water, bring to a boil until its color changes.
- Then drain the peels and reserve the water; leave the peels in a colander.
- Return the water to the pot and add the sugar and a squeeze of lemon. Let the syrup boil for about 4 minutes.
- After that, add the peels to the syrup and let them boil for about two minutes only.
- Finally, add red food coloring and mix.
- Let the lemon peel cool before using it to decorate desserts.
- You can use the peel syrup to serve with desserts.
