- 1 cup strained orange juice
- 1 1/2 cups fine semolina
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 4 tablespoons orange zest
- Ingredients and method for the syrup:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 2 lemon slices
- 2 orange slices
- 2 drops orange blossom water
- Stir the ingredients over low heat until the syrup thickens slightly. When it reaches the desired thickness, remove the syrup from the heat.

Method
- In a deep bowl, place the eggs, vanilla, and orange zest and whisk well...
- Add the sugar gradually and continue whisking
- Then add the vegetable oil in stages while continuing to whisk, and add the orange juice while whisking until the ingredients are incorporated
- Add the semolina, baking powder and flour to the rest of the ingredients and continue whisking until you get a cohesive batter
- You can add a little, about 3 additional tablespoons of semolina if the batter needs it
- Grease the pan with a little tahini and pour the batter into it evenly... Place the pan in a preheated oven at 180°C and brown it on the bottom and top until cooked...
- When you remove the basbousa from the oven, pour the cold syrup over it
