Ingredients

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground red chili pepper
  • a pinch of ground cumin
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

Method

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion in the oil until softened.
  2. Add the ground red chili, ground cumin, cumin seeds and salt; stir, then remove from heat.
  3. Spread the filling over prepared manakish dough.
  4. Place the manoushe on a baking tray and bake at 200°C (392°F) with top and bottom heat for 12 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through and has the desired color.
