Ingredients:

3 cups flour

1 cup fine semolina, also known as chicken flour

1 teaspoon mahlab

2 1/2 teaspoons ground anise

1 tablespoon yeast

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon orange blossom water

1 cup vegetable oil

1 cup water, or as needed for the dough

To prepare the syrup:

3 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups water

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon orange blossom water

For the filling:

Ground walnuts

A pinch of cinnamon

A pinch of orange blossom water

1 tablespoon sugar

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together, knead the dough, and let it rest for about 15 minutes.

After the required time has passed, start cutting the dough, filling it with the walnut filling, and shaping it the same way you shape fried kibbeh.

You can moisten your hand with a little water while shaping the maqroun kibbeh to help form it.

Fry the maqroun kibbeh pieces in plenty of hot oil, then drop them into the syrup while they are still hot, after removing them from the strainer and draining off the oil.
