Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup sugar, or 7 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon rose water, just for flavor
  • plain tea biscuits, unfilled
  • Chocolate shavings or shredded coconut for garnish
  • Today's karabij recipe from our friend:
  • Mimo Nab

Method

  1. Place the egg whites in a small bowl and add the sugar, vanilla, and rose water.
  2. Put the egg and sugar mixture over low heat and stir it, or whisk it gently by hand over the heat, until the sugar dissolves into the egg and the mixture becomes loose and lukewarm. Do not leave it too long over the heat so the egg does not cook. This way, we make sure the egg is no longer raw and will not cause any problems.
  3. Then transfer the mixture to a plastic bowl and beat with an electric mixer for about 6 minutes until it thickens and becomes somewhat thick.
    Timers: 6 min
  4. Place a little of the mixture over each biscuit. You can use a piping bag if desired for filling and decorating with chocolate shavings or colored sprinkles as shown in the picture. You can also color the coconut with food coloring, mix it, and use it for decoration.
  5. Note: This quantity is enough to make eight pieces of karabij. You can increase the quantities according to the number you want.
