- 3 cups flour
- 4 tablespoons powdered milk
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 egg
- A pinch of salt
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- Sesame seeds
- Whole anise seeds

Method
- In a deep bowl, put the dry ingredients, then add the egg and begin adding the water gradually until you get a smooth, well combined dough.
- The zalabia dough should be slightly soft.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and whole anise seeds over the dough and let it rise for about an hour.
- Once the zalabia dough has risen, heat the oil. Using the tips of your fingers, take a little of the dough and place it in the oil, then turn it on both sides until golden brown.
- If the zalabia dough starts sticking to your hands, you can dip your fingers in cold oil...
- Serve the zalabia hot or cold with thyme and labneh, or as a light sweet treat with honey or powdered sugar.
