Pizza sauce — a delicious homemade recipe

Basil

Garlic

Peeled tomatoes

Onion

Dried oregano

1 tablespoon sugar (to preserve the tomato color)

1 teaspoon vinegar

Olive oil

Salt

Fresh hot pepper to taste — optional

Place all ingredients in a blender except the oil and vinegar, and blend until smooth.
Pour the mixture into a saucepan and bring to a boil.
When it boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
While hot, ladle the pizza sauce into sterilized glass jars. Drizzle olive oil over the surface, add the teaspoon of vinegar, and seal the jars tightly.
Turn the jars upside down and leave them like that for 24 hours — this helps preserve them so they can be stored outside the fridge until needed.
