Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon yeast
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups warm milk
- 1 egg
- Powdered sugar glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 6 to 8 tablespoons milk
- Food coloring if desired to make colored glazes (optional)

Method
- Mix the flour with the sugar, yeast and salt, then add the soft butter and the egg — rub together well.
- Add the milk and knead until you get the donut dough.
- Let the dough rise until it doubles in size.
- Roll it out to about 1 cm thickness and cut into rounds to the desired size, then let the rounds rise a second time.
- Fry the donuts in hot oil until golden.
- When the donuts have cooled, decorate with melted chocolate or the powdered sugar glaze.

- Mix the powdered sugar and milk well to get a thick white glaze.
- Add food coloring to obtain colored glazes if desired.
