Ingredients

  • Baklava dough or phyllo pastry
  • Butter or ghee
  • Ground almonds
  • Qatar or sugar syrup
  • Orange blossom water

Method

  1. Lay 6 sheets of dough on top of one another in a baking tray and brush with softened butter or ghee between each layer...
  2. Spread the filling of ground almonds mixed with syrup and orange blossom water... then lay 6 more sheets of baklava dough on top and brush with butter or ghee between the layers.
  3. Cut the almond baklava into squares before placing it in the oven. Bake for about half an hour at 180 degrees Celsius.
  4. Pour the cold syrup over the almond baklava while it is hot... serve once it has cooled.
