Cotton candy — a homemade recipe you can make in your kitchen

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • A squeeze of lemon or 1 teaspoon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom water — optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla — optional
  • Note:
  • You can add 1 tablespoon orange blossom water with the sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla with the flour-and-butter mix — this is optional.

Method

  1. Put the sugar in a nonstick skillet with water and lemon; cook until it takes on a light amber color.
  2. Grease a tray lightly with oil and pour the sugar mixture onto it.
  3. Let it cool slightly, then with your hands stretch and thin the mixture and roll it into a ring shape.
  4. In a pan, melt the butter, then turn off the heat and add the flour and stir.
  5. Dip the sugar ring in the flour-and-butter mixture, then with your hands stretch the sugar ring to thin it and roll it again into a ring. Repeat this process several times to obtain cotton candy.
