Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 300 g pitted, ground dates
  • Mixed nuts to taste (walnuts, almonds, raisins, hazelnuts, cashews)
  • Desiccated coconut, crushed pistachio, or sesame for coating the balls — optional
  • Tahini for serving — optional

Method

  1. Put the dates and oats in a bowl and begin mixing/pressing them together.
  2. Crumble and press the mixture together several times until well combined.
  3. Break the walnuts by hand and add them to the dates and oats, then add raisins and almonds — about a small handful of each nut, or to taste.
  4. Knead well until the ingredients are uniform, then shape the date-and-oat mixture into rounds or balls.
  5. Optionally roll the balls in desiccated coconut, sesame, or crushed pistachio, or serve them with tahini.
