English Cake or the English-style loaf cake — an easy and delicious recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins

Method

  1. Sift the flour with the baking powder and baking soda.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs, vanilla and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the melted butter (at room temperature) and the warm milk and beat.
  4. Add the flour mixture and beat.
  5. Add 1 cup golden raisins and fold in with a wooden spoon from bottom to top.
  6. Grease the English loaf pan with butter only, then pour in the batter and sprinkle a little raisins on top.
  7. Place it in a preheated oven with top and bottom heat on at 180°C for about 40 minutes

  8. Wait for the cake to cool before removing it from the pan and serving.
