Easy namoura — a delicious homemade semolina cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups semolina
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup melted ghee (or oil, as preferred)
  • Peeled almonds for garnish

Method

  1. Mix the ingredients well then spread them in the buttered pan and let them rest as long as possible — at least 5 hours and preferably longer.
    Timers: 300 min
  2. After the time has passed, cut it and garnish with peeled almonds.
  3. Bake in the oven at 180°C until it browns from the bottom.
  4. Switch the oven to top heat until it becomes golden.
  5. Pour cold syrup over it while it is hot.
  6. Leave the easy namoura in the pan until it cools completely to room temperature, then serve.
