Donuts are one of the most famous American desserts. Here is an easy way to make them, and of course you can add the frosting or topping of your choice.
Ingredients
- 1 cup liquid milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon yeast
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- Filling:
- 1/2 cup pastry cream

- 1/4 cup liquid milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Method
- In a deep bowl, add the milk, then add the egg and vanilla, and mix with a hand mixer until the ingredients are well combined.
- Add the sugar and whisk with the mixture until it dissolves completely.
- Add the butter and continue whisking so the ingredients blend well together.
- Add the yeast and keep whisking.
- Gradually add the flour and mix it with the ingredients until you get a soft, cohesive dough.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for at least one hour.
- In an electric mixer, add the pastry cream and pour in the milk, then whisk well. Add the heavy cream and whisk until you get a smooth, creamy consistency and the filling is ready.
- Place the donut filling in the fridge to chill before filling the donuts.
- Roll out the dough after it has risen to a thickness of at least 1.5 cm, then cut it into circles.
- Fry in plenty of oil over medium heat until the donuts are cooked through and turn golden brown.
- Dip the donuts in powdered sugar while they are still hot, then make a small slit on the side and fill them with the cream filling we prepared using a piping bag.
