Ingredients

  • 5 and a half cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 200 g butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Filling:
  • Date paste mixed with 1 tablespoon butter

Method

  1. Blend the butter and oil in a mixer until the mixture becomes homogeneous and creamy.
  2. Add the sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix until combined, then add the milk, baking powder, and flour and continue mixing until you have a cohesive, shapeable dough. Take a piece of dough, place a ball of date paste inside, roll it into a ball, place it on the maamoul mold and press gently to take the mold's shape.
  3. Arrange the date maamoul balls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 150°C (or according to your oven) for 10 to 12 minutes or until the maamoul turn golden. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool well before serving.
