Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup instant custard powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered (confectioners') sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening or butter
  • 1 egg
  • Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Method

  1. Sift together the dry ingredients, then rub them with the shortening or butter until crumbly.
  2. Add the egg and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
    Timers: 15 min
  4. After chilling, shape the custard biscuits. Use a small cake mould or cookie stamp to form each piece.
  5. Place the pieces on a baking tray, spaced slightly apart.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes until the bottoms are lightly browned, then turn on the oven's top heat briefly so the tops dry without taking on a red color — they should remain yellow.
    Timers: 10 min
  7. Serve the biscuits cold at room temperature
