Berry muhallebi... a very special and refreshing recipe... one layer of milk pudding and another of refreshing berries... and nothing better.
Ingredients
- Muhallebi:
- 10 tablespoons powdered milk
- 6 tablespoons cornstarch
- 5 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla - optional
- 1 liter water
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
- Berry layer:
- 2 cups berry juice or 1 packet berry-flavored juice powder + 2 cups water
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
Method
- Place all the muhallebi ingredients, except the rose water and orange blossom water, in a pot and whisk them together while cold.
- Set over the heat, stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Add the rose water and orange blossom water, stir, and turn off the heat.
- Pour the muhallebi into serving cups until halfway or three-quarters full, or into a pyrex dish. Leave room to pour the berry layer on top.
- Let the milk muhallebi cool for about half an hour, and in the meantime prepare the berry muhallebi…
- Mix the berry layer ingredients while cold, then place over low heat, stirring until thickened.
- Pour it over the milk muhallebi after it has cooled.
- Let the pyrex cool to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator.
- Garnish the berry muhallebi with nuts or shredded coconut and serve chilled from the fridge.
