Khabisa (Beirut-style) — a simple, traditional sweet from Beirut :)
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 tbsp rose water
- 3 tbsp orange blossom water
- 4 pieces of mastic, crushed with a pinch of sugar
- nuts (or dried fruit) to taste — soaked for 1 hour

Method
- Mix the cornstarch, water, sugar, orange blossom water and mastic; dissolve them together in cold water
- Put them in a pot over medium heat and stir until they thicken
- Then add the nuts after draining them well and stir
- Pour the khabisa into the serving dish and let it cool
- When the khabisa has cooled completely to room temperature, cut it and serve
