Ingredients

  • 2 eggs with vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • Zest of 3 oranges

Method

  1. Start by beating the eggs with the vanilla...
  2. Add the sugar and keep beating, then add the oil...
  3. Beat the mixture for several minutes until the sugar dissolves, then begin adding the flour and baking powder and continue beating.
  4. Add the juice and orange zest and beat until the ingredients are well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a cake pan suitable for the oven and place the pan in a preheated oven.
  6. Leave the cake in the oven without opening it at all for about 40 minutes, or until you see that it has risen and is cooked through. Insert a wooden skewer to make sure the cake is baked from the inside. Remove it from the oven and leave it on a cool surface for a little while until it settles and cools slightly before transferring it to a serving plate. It can be decorated however we like or with whatever we have on hand. Here, we decorated the orange cake with a dusting of powdered sugar and a few lines of chocolate sauce.
