Recipe story

Bûche de Noël cake is not complete without it at Christmas. Here is an easy method: just follow the steps and prepare it several hours ahead so it sets well and is cold when served.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • The cream:
  • 100 g butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup whipping cream for desserts
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • Vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Method

  1. Beat the eggs well with the salt and vanilla until the mixture turns white
  2. Add the sugar and beat until dissolved
  3. Sift the flour and add it gradually, then fold the mixture with a spoon from bottom to top
  4. In a square baking tray, place a sheet of parchment paper and spread the cake batter evenly
  5. Preheat the oven, then place the tray in a hot oven at medium heat, about 180°C, for only 10 minutes
    Timers: 10 min
  6. As soon as you remove it from the oven, turn the tray out onto a clean, soft towel to remove the cake .. then roll it immediately into a log shape inside the towel and let it cool for about 15 minutes
    Timers: 15 min
  7. Prepare the cream ... Beat the butter until very smooth and thick, then add the whipping cream, cocoa powder (sifted), vanilla, and sugar, and beat at medium speed until the cream is smooth and holds together
  8. Unroll the cake roll and spread half the cream evenly, then roll it up again and spread the remaining cream over the outside of the Bûche cake
  9. Decorate the Bûche cake with chocolate pieces or as desired
