Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 3 cups flour, or 3 and 1/4 cups depending on the type
  • 1 cup liquid milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil with ghee
  • 1 large spoon yeast
  • 1 small spoon fennel
  • 1 small spoon mahlab
  • 1 small spoon anise

Method

  1. Dissolve the sugar with the warm milk, yeast, and ghee, then add the fennel, anise, and mahlab and mix.
  2. When the yeast activates, gradually add the flour over the mixture and mix to form a soft dough.
  3. Leave it to rise for 4 hours.

  4. After the time has passed, shape the milk ka'ak pieces and arrange them on a baking tray, then let them rest for an additional hour.
  5. Bake the ka'ak in the oven on the rack at medium heat for about 12 minutes only.

  6. Brown the top slightly for just 1 minute.
    Timers: 1 min
  7. Remove the ka'ak from the oven and brush the top with cold milk while it is still hot.
  8. Serve the milk ka'ak once it has cooled to room temperature.
