Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 and 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Zest of 1 whole orange
  • 1/2 cup olive oil or any available oil
  • 1/4 cup milk at room temperature
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 and 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 beaten egg for brushing the ka'ak
  • Sugar for sprinkling on top of the ka'ak

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. In a bowl whisk together the eggs, sugar, oil, vanilla, and orange zest until the ingredients combine and the sugar dissolves and lightens in color.
  2. Add the milk and continue whisking, then sift the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the egg and sugar mixture and stir with a wooden spoon.
  4. Place the mixture in a piping bag and shape as desired or into rounds on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  5. Brush the tops of the ka'ak with the beaten egg and sprinkle a little sugar.
  6. Place the tray of soft egg ka'ak in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 15 minutes or until the bottoms brown.
    Timers: 15 min
  7. Brown the soft egg ka'ak slightly on top, then turn off the heat and place them on a wire rack to cool.
