Homemade Cotton Candy
Homemade cotton candy made simply at home with few ingredients — an easy alternative to store-bought that kids will love.
Cotton candy — a homemade recipe you can make in your kitchen
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- A squeeze of lemon or 1 teaspoon
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon orange blossom water — optional
- 1 teaspoon vanilla — optional
- Note
- You can add 1 tablespoon orange blossom water with the sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla with the flour-and-butter mix — this is optional.
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Put the sugar in a nonstick skillet with water and lemon; cook until it takes on a light amber color.
- Grease a tray lightly with oil and pour the sugar mixture onto it.
- Let it cool slightly, then with your hands stretch and thin the mixture and roll it into a ring shape.
- In a pan, melt the butter, then turn off the heat and add the flour and stir.
- Dip the sugar ring in the flour-and-butter mixture, then with your hands stretch the sugar ring to thin it and roll it again into a ring. Repeat this process several times to obtain cotton candy.
