Recipe story

Puff pastry with pastry cream... a very easy recipe for a delicious dessert with little effort

Ingredients

  • Ready-made puff pastry
  • Pastry cream:
  • 3 cups liquid milk
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Also from Wotfa, here is Fried Qatayef Dessert

Method

  1. Cut the pastry and bake it in the oven at 200°C for just a few minutes until it becomes golden, watching closely.
  2. Let it cool well at room temperature, and prepare the pastry cream (crème pâtissière).
  3. Mix all the pastry cream ingredients except the butter; stir them while cold.
  4. Place them on the heat, stirring until they boil and thicken.
  5. Add the butter and stir until it melts, then remove from the heat.
  6. Pour the cream into a wide dish and cover it with food-grade plastic wrap so a skin does not form on the surface.
  7. Let them cool well, then put them in the fridge to chill thoroughly as well.
  8. Then fill the puff pastry with the pastry cream and serve the dessert immediately; you can also keep them in the fridge until serving.
