Recipe story

An easy, tried-and-true kaak with milk recipe—so delicious for the family and children, and also perfect when we have guests. The tastiest kaak with a cup of tea or coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baharat or kaak spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon mahlab
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup a mixture of ghee and melted butter
  • 2 cups sugar, or less to taste

Method

  1. To prepare the tastiest kaak with milk, first mix the warm milk with the yeast and leave them to activate for about a quarter of an hour
  2. Add the sifted flour and all the remaining dry ingredients over the milk and yeast
  3. Knead the kaak with milk mixture well and let it rest for 3 hours
    Timers: 180 min
  4. After the required time, shape the dough into circles or balls, as desired
  5. Meanwhile, preheat the oven on high heat so it becomes hot
  6. Place the tray of kaak with milk in the oven until the kaak browns on the bottom, then move it to the top until the pieces turn lightly golden and take on a beautiful color
  7. When the kaak with milk is done, remove it from the oven and brush the top with a little melted butter
  8. From Rania, also try Othmaliyeh
  9. Also from Rania, prepare Mini Fruit Tart
