Easy and Delicious Muhallabia (Milk Pudding)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch (1 tablespoon per cup of milk)
  • Sugar to taste (about 1 tablespoon per cup)
  • 2 pieces mastic, crushed and ground with a little sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rose water
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
  • Nuts soaked in water in advance and drained + shredded coconut for garnish (optional)

  1. Whisk the milk, sugar, and cornstarch together while cold
  2. Place the mixture in a pot over medium heat and stir
  3. When the muhallabia mixture boils and thickens, add the crushed or ground mastic with a pinch of sugar, plus rose water and orange blossom water; stir, then remove the muhallabia from the heat
  4. Pour into serving glasses or bowls and let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate until well chilled
  5. Garnish with nuts and desiccated coconut or as desired
