How to Make Nutella Chocolate at Home

How to make Nutella chocolate, or Nutella spread, at home in an easy, clear way using ingredients you can find in any household. The hazelnuts in this recipe are very important, as they give the Nutella its signature flavor!

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons powdered milk dissolved in 1 cup of water to make 1 cup liquid milk
  • A pinch of vanilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (any kind you have on hand, but a light oil is best so its flavor does not affect the Nutella)
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee
  • 1/2 cup roasted hazelnuts, finely ground

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. In a deep bowl, mix the milk with the sugar, cocoa, and instant coffee well
  2. Grind the hazelnuts very finely and add a splash of oil to get a very fine powder
  3. Put the ingredients in an electric blender with a pinch of vanilla and blend well
  4. Add the oil gradually in a thin stream, very slowly
  5. Continue whisking constantly until you get a smooth, homogeneous mixture
  6. Transfer the Nutella chocolate mixture from the blender to a suitable container or jar for storage
  7. Store the Nutella in the fridge, not the freezer, until ready to use. You will notice the mixture thickens and sets after it has completely cooled
