Ingredients

  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Grated Coconut Cake recipe

Method

  1. Dissolve the yeast in a little lukewarm water.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and knead until you have a smooth, homogeneous dough.
  3. Continue kneading until the dough is soft and elastic.
  4. Let the milk bread dough rise for 1 hour until it has doubled in size, then knead it again.
    Timers: 60 min
  5. Shape the dough as you like — rounds, buns, or finger-shaped rolls — to get the milk bread you want.
  6. Place the pieces on a baking tray and let them rise again.
  7. Preheat the oven to 200°C (about 400°F).
  8. Brush the milk bread with a mixture of egg yolk and milk, then sprinkle with raw sesame seeds and nigella seeds.
  9. Bake the milk bread until golden — don’t leave it in the oven too long or it will become hard.
