Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup fine semolina
  • 1/2 cup sugar or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon starch
  • A pinch of mahleb
  • A pinch of shredded coconut - optional

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients and cook in a pot over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture boils and thickens.
  2. Turn off the heat and add 1 tablespoon rose water and 1 tablespoon orange blossom water. Return the mixture to the serving bowl and refrigerate Layali Lubnan until well cooled.
  3. Top with two cans of plain cream or qamar as a layer on top of Layali Lubnan, and garnish with pistachios or as desired.
  4. Serve Layali Lubnan cold with syrup or honey.
