Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 medium-sized teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • Water as needed, depending on the dough and the type of flour

Method

  1. Beat the eggs with the vanilla for about 2 minutes, then add the sugar. You can increase or reduce the amount of sugar as desired.
    Timers: 2 min
  2. Add the oil and beat the mixture well. Then add the flour, baking powder, and the rest of the ingredients gradually until you get a smooth dough that is soft but firm.
  3. Shape the dough immediately into circles or fingers as needed. There is no need to let the dough rise, and it can be shaped right away.
  4. Bake the orange cakes in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for up to 12 minutes. As soon as the cakes take on some color from the bottom, turn on the top heat so they can take on a little color as well. We do not want to leave the orange cakes in the oven for too long so they do not become hard. Remove them from the oven after baking; they will be slightly crisp. Set them aside until they cool a little before placing them on the serving plate.
    Timers: 12 min
