Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • a pinch of salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or small chopped chocolate

Method

  1. Place 1/2 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, 1/4 cup cornstarch and a pinch of salt in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir well to prevent lumps, then gradually add the milk while continuing to stir until the mixture is well combined.
  3. When the mixture begins to boil and thicken slightly, add 1 tablespoon vanilla extract or lemon zest (depending on what’s available).
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and add 1/2 cup chocolate chips or small chopped chocolate, stirring quickly until the chocolate is completely melted.
  5. Pour the pudding into serving glasses, cover with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming, and place the glasses in the refrigerator for some time until the pudding is fully set before serving.
