Barazek
This is one of our favorite recipes, because barazek is one of the most delicious sweets of all time... Don't be afraid to make barazek at home, as we did, thinking it was extremely difficult; we promise you it will be easy and very tasty!
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 7 cups flour
- 2 cups ghee
- 1 teaspoon yeast
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- A pinch of mahlab
- 1/4 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons milk powder
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup pistachios
- 1 coffee cup syrup
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix the flour, yeast, mahlab, baking powder, and milk powder.
- Make a well in the center and add the ghee and sugar, then mix well.
- Add the water and knead until the dough comes together. Let it rest for one hour.
- Take a portion of the dough and roll it into a cylinder, then cut it into thin pieces.
- Place the syrup, sesame seeds, and pistachios, each in a separate bowl.
- Dip each piece in a little pistachio from one side and coat the other side with syrup, then sesame. Press with the palm of your hand, then place on a baking tray with the pistachio side facing down and bake in a preheated oven.
- Remove the barazek from the oven and arrange them on a serving plate.
- Serve cold.
