Ingredients:

Dough:

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 kilo flour

1 cup warm milk

100 g melted butter

Oil for rolling out the dough

Filling:

Walnuts + cinnamon

Cold syrup for drizzling over the mtabbak after baking

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Place the dry ingredients in a bowl... then add the butter and liquid milk and knead until you get a soft dough
  2. Let it rest for an hour, then roll it out on a surface sprinkled or brushed with oil. Use plenty of oil to stretch the dough and roll it out thin
  3. Cut it lengthwise and distribute the filling in a lengthwise line along one edge of each piece of dough, then roll it into a rope or thin log. Twist each rope around itself in a spiral shape
  4. Bake the Palestinian mtabbak in the oven until cooked through, then brown it on top as well
  5. Pour the cold syrup over it while it is hot, then let it cool and serve
