English Cake or the English-style loaf cake — an easy and delicious recipe
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder and baking soda.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs, vanilla and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the melted butter (at room temperature) and the warm milk and beat.
- Add the flour mixture and beat.
- Add 1 cup golden raisins and fold in with a wooden spoon from bottom to top.
- Grease the English loaf pan with butter only, then pour in the batter and sprinkle a little raisins on top.
- Place it in a preheated oven with top and bottom heat on at 180°C for about 40 minutesTimers: 40 min
