Maamoul with Ashta

Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 4 cups semolina
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- A pinch of mastic
- A pinch of yeast
- 1/2 cup ghee or melted butter
- Orange blossom water and rose water
- Ashta
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 5 cups water
- 2 cups powdered milk
- 1 container ashta (qaimar)
- A small piece of butter
- Method for the ashta
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Rub the ingredients well after adding the butter or ghee (as desired).
- Leave the mixture for about an hour.
- Add 1 cup of orange blossom water and rose water to the mixture, rub them in well again, and leave for another hour.
- Roll out a thin layer of the dough and place the ashta filling on top.
- For the second layer of dough, roll it out on kitchen plastic wrap, roll it or flatten it well until even, then gently place it over the ashta layer.
- Place the ingredients over the heat. When the mixture starts to thicken, add a piece of butter and a plain container of ashta (qaimar), stir quickly, then turn off the heat.
- Maamoul with ashta needs about 20 minutes in the oven, and you must pour the syrup over it immediately after removing it from the oven and before cutting.Timers: 20 min
- When the edges turn golden, that means the maamoul tray is done on the bottom, so then turn on the top heat as well until the top is golden too.
- In this particular recipe, the recipe creator used a new method for making maamoul with ashta: instead of spreading it in a tray, she placed it in a muffin tin and got this shape of maamoul. This is a new idea for you to try.
