Anise cookies — an easy recipe that’s become much requested. Here is a method for the tastiest, lightest cookies.
Ingredients
- 200 grams flour
- 200 grams fine semolina (fine semolina)
- 2 tablespoons powdered milk
- 1 teaspoon
- mahlab (mahleb)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 teaspoons whole anise seeds
- 4 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 120 grams melted butter or 1/2 cup
- 1 teaspoon yeast + 180 grams warm water
Method
- Mix the dry ingredients except the anise and sift them.
- Add the anise seeds and mix.
- Add the melted butter and knead by hand, then add the water with the yeast after it has activated. Knead until you have a cohesive dough.
- Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rest for about 40 minutes.Timers: 40 min
- Roll into balls, then shape as desired.
- Place the pieces on parchment paper on a baking tray.
- Put the tray into a preheated oven on the middle rack at 180°C.
- Bake until the anise cookies are cooked through or lightly golden — about a quarter of an hour (≈15 minutes) in the oven.Timers: 15 min
